Atieh Pardazan Sharif and Arvand Petrochemical

A video introducing Arvand Petrochemical Company has been produced by the company’s Public Relations Department and is presented for your viewing.

It is worth noting that Arvand Petrochemical is one of the world’s largest producers in the chlorine value chain. Its chlor-alkali complex has an annual production capacity of 660,000 tons of caustic soda (NaOH) at 100% concentration, equivalent to 1,320,000 tons at 50% concentration.

The Arvand chlor-alkali unit consists of 24 chlorine electrolyzers, each containing 168 electrolysis cells. Inside each cell, concentrated brine is processed between the anode and cathode and decomposed by an electric current of up to 14.86 kA per electrolyzer, producing chloride (Cl⁻) and sodium (Na⁺) ions. Hydrogen is also generated at the cathode side of each cell. After passing through the membrane, sodium ions combine with hydroxide ions (OH⁻) to produce sodium hydroxide (NaOH), while chloride ions are converted into chlorine gas (Cl₂) through electrochemical reactions.

Atieh Pardazan Sharif is proud to have established a dedicated production line for the repair and recoating of chlor-alkali electrolyzer anodes and cathodes, enabling Arvand Petrochemical and other chlorine producers in Iran to eliminate their dependence on overseas service providers for these specialized services.

Today, these advanced services are offered domestically under the Iranian brand XENODE, representing another significant step toward technological localization and self-sufficiency in Iran’s chlor-alkali industry.
